My vision for Havre de Grace is to maintain the historic charm of the City while moving into the 21st century. I enjoy working with the Havre de Grace Police Department and Susquehanna Hose Company in developing open lines of communication, understanding of diversity in our communities and increasing trust between the citizens, police. ems and elected officials to keep Havre de Grace safe. The addition of a Auxiliary Police program and an Explorer Post are continuing efforts to work with residents of the community. The Cadet program which is currently on hold due to Covid-19 will provide the opportunity for Havre de Grace Police Department to recruit residents 18 to 21 years of age to provide a better understanding of the community and law enforcement while also providing college credits for the Cadets. In 2018 Havre de Grace was recognized as the 4th safest City in the Nation to raise children. In 2020 Havre de Grace was ranked the 12th safest city in Maryland and in March 2021 Havre de Grace was ranked on of the Best Places to “Retire by the Bay.”

Historic Havre de Grace is the epicenter of our local economy. In 2020 the efforts of the Havre de Grace's Economic Development Team in retaining existing businesses while working to attract new businesses to vacant store fronts has been an immense success.  The results are eighteen new businesses, with the loss of only eight existing businesses.  The projections for 2021 are seven new businesses or expansions.  There were 21 grants for “fit out and facade improvements” in addition to assistance provided to the local businesses in obtaining CARE funds. 3 - Childcare Provider Relief(Harford County), 53 - COVID-19 Business Relief Grants (Harford County) in addition to Main Street SERI Grants - 74 in process. Maryland Small Business COVID-19 Emergency Relief Loans and many more. The City is slowly returning to a more active Tourist Destination while complying with Covid-19 restrictions, First Fridays begin in April, the carnival returns in June along with Friday Concerts in The Park and the 4th of July Parade and fireworks are scheduled. By improving tourism and ensuring sustainable economic growth, we can advance the quality of life for all our citizens.

With the opening of the new Havre de Grace Middle Senior High School including its New Magnet Program “Information Technology-Oracle Academy” Havre de Grace to continues to attract millennials and their families, further guaranteeing our City’s fiscal stability and growth.

At the end of the day, I plan to focus on fiscally responsible, long-term solutions, not short-term, "Band-Aid" fixes.
